Deer leg on Bowman Lake
It was one of those days, way out of reach of the camera’s eye but well within reach of the binocular: I spent over an hour watching the instigators of this poor little deer’s demise; I watched the four where they were way down the middle of the frozen lake, napping and dozing, rolling in the snow and wrestling with each other, scratching and stretching, napping some more and another stretch for good measures. It was one of those days..
Cyclone Lookout
Here is Oliver on a great outing to Cyclone Lookout, just a little south of Polebridge. Great views reveal the frozen Bowman Lake with little sleepy Polebridge in the Foreground. The view towards the south shows the lower part of the North Fork Valley and some more of the Glacier Peaks, all capped by the cloud ceiling.
Spring in the Mountains
Blue, the dog and I headed up to Glacier View today while Oliver, the cat stayed home cleaning and minding the top bunk in the greenhouse. As spring days go in the mountains there was just enough snow to tease us out on the trail..
hardly hit the snow when we stumbled upon a trail made by some creature just woken from a lengthy slumber and ambling through the bright mountain-scape. As we kept on the skies darkened and Blue started to question my sanity:
but once on top even the old lady is taking it in, even so there is no view but plenty of the stuff that makes glaciers. It blew so hard that our tracks were blown in a matter of minutes: spring in the mountains!
