No matter what your activity, bring your camera and binoculars. Wildlife is plentiful here. You might see deer, moose, elk, mountain lions, wolves, eagles or bears from the hostel windows. Only wolves have not been seen from the hostel windows yet.
Summer
Hike or backpack along Glacier's Continental Divide or the forested trails of the Whitefish Range.
Ski Logan Pass in late June when Going-To-The-Sun Road opens. (Cross-country skis and boots may be rented at the hostel.)
Bicycle up from West Glacier on the inside park road to the hostel, then explore Polebridge and the surrounding area.
Canoe, raft, fish or swim the federally designated wild and scenic North Fork of the Flathead River (class I, II and III white water) or beautiful Kintla and Bowman Lakes.
Help with trail maintenance, go on a hike or attend one of the other activities sponsored by the North Fork Preservation Association.
Winter
(The hostel is open in winter. The Charlie Wise Homestead may also be rented by special arrangement.)
Ski or snowshoe in Glacier National Park to Big Prairie, Bowman Lake, Lone Pine Prairie, or along the North Fork of the Flathead River.
The Root Beer Classic dog sled race will usually take place on the first weekend in March, please check beforehand.

The North Fork Hostel & Inn is located on the western edge of Glacier National Park, 1/4 mile (1/2 kilometer) southeast of the Polebridge Mercantile at the end of Beaver Drive (follow the signs). Taking Camas Creek Road through Glacier Park (except when the park is snowed in during the winter) avoids a rough section of the North Fork Road. The North Fork Road north from Columbia Falls to Polebridge is route 486, a gravel road with sections of pavement. In winter when coming from West Glacier, use Blankenship Bridge Road( call ahead for directions). It is a good idea to have tire chains with you in winter. Try to arrive during daytime to appreciate the views and to locate the North Fork Hostel & Inn easily.
Transportation to or from the AMTRAK station at West Glacier (Belton) may often be arranged for $50.00 per trip. Allow for at least a three night stay at the North Fork Hostel & Inn so you are not rushed. This service, when available, is by reservation only and requires a deposit.
Distance to the North Fork Hostel from...
Glacier International Airport: 55 miles (89 km)
West Glacier (Belton) Amtrak Station: 28 miles (45 km)
Whitefish Amtrak Station: 57 miles (92 km)

Charlie Wise Homestead
The original Charlie Wise Homestead from circa 1918. Has it's own kitchen facilities and fireplace, one master bedroom with a queen size bed and a full size bed in the living room. Minimum stay 3 nights.

Square Peg North Cabin
The North Cabin has a more modern feel and offers full kitchen facilities and a fireplace. The master bedroom downstairs has a full size bed and there are two beds in the loft upstairs. Minimum stay 3 nights.

Goat Chalet
It is called the goat chalet because, as the story goes, John used to house a couple of goats in there at one point, but today it is my most favored rental cabin at the hostel. It has a queen size bed and a small table with two chairs.
$45 + 7% tax

Klondike Kate's
Klondike Kate's has a double bed and a futon type couch to make you comfortable, a table with two chairs and a propane stove for heat makes it a little less challenging for some of you.
$45 + 7% tax
a night
adults: 2
children: 1
Couple's Room
The couple's room is actually a rather tiny room with a double bed and a small dresser, just enough to get some good night's rest, but because it's conveniently located upstairs, especially handy in the winter time ( you don't have to worry about staying warm) it makes up for it.
$45 + 7% tax

adults: 2
Family Room
The family room is the best room upstairs, it has a queen size bed and three twin bed bunks, which means plenty of room for a couple or a small family upstairs and nice and warm in the wintertime.

White Tipi
For a little more plush camping we have a tipi available that sports a double bed but still has a dirt floor and lets you experience all the night sounds. A small fire is possible if we're not in the middle of a forest fire season and we trust you enough with the matches :)

Tan Tipi
For a little more plush camping we have a tipi available that sports a double bed but still has a dirt floor and lets you experience all the night sounds. A small fire is possible if we're not in the middle of a forest fire season and we trust you enough with the matches :)

Green Zucchini
Another small little gem for the financially challenged is the "green zucchini" or commonly called pickle. A homemade trailer from the '50s that barely survived the '95 flood, has drafty windows, no heat and a bed just barely big enough for two has been my home for many summers during my early time and it still enamors the occasional visitor.
$40 + 7% tax

adults: 2
Mixed Dorm
Facilities include twelve bunks for men and women, couples and family accommodations, washrooms with hot showers, a six-foot clawfoot bathtub, a large downstairs shared living room, a warm and pleasant, fully-equipped community kitchen and the spiffiest outhouses on the North Fork.
$20

There are good reasons to smile now in Polebridge, the new owners of the merc are doing a wonderful job- just check out their new solar system: Wow!
B.C. and Montana signed a memorandum of understanding and hopefully there will be no mining in this special place. Glacier National Park is celebrating their centennial and spring is almost here!
